A wet day out.

We took the van out on a rather unpleasant day.

Manchee wondered at our decision (he doesn't like rain it seems!).

It was wet and oppressive in the woods

and as the rain dwindled a heavy mist settled over us all.

Perfect weather for chasing sticks and generally going insane!

Would you believe these are the clearest pictures of Manchee in the woods?

Twisty trees made interesting frames

and were fun to explore.

Lots of walking

while I painted pictures in my head and tried to work out how to capture the moody atmosphere.

Finally back to the van

to get dry and have a lovely hot cup of tea

and do some crochet.

(and yes, I'm wearing that top again!!!)

Progress!

The fox painting is progressing, but I have to say that at this point I was having serious doubts that it would pull together.

An awful lot of brush strokes later and it's looking better. I only have until the weekend to have it completely finished for an exhibition! I'm not normally this late with preparing, but life has been soooo hectic around here.

I can't wait to get the exhibition set up and then escape in our little van for a few days :D

Inspired.

Watching the kittens play, wash and sleep together can take up quite a bit of time if I'm not careful.

And a gentle wash can soon get out of hand,

turning into a full on fight!

But it can also be very inspiring.

I hate this stage of the painting, when everything looks flat and badly coloured. I can't wait to get beyond this stage so that I can fiddle with textures.

and the dog came too.

Manchee is slowly getting used to the van. He loves the beds, but being restricted by his leash isn't so cool. More trips planned for this week, yaay :D

I know it looks like I live in that jumper, but it is my favourite, haha!

Ebay

I've taken the unnusual step of listing a couple of my needlefelt items on Ebay. I thought it might bring some new interest to my art and hopefully raise some much needed cash!

Her profile always reminded me a little of Bette Middler, hehe! She has beads and dreadlocks in her long luxurious hair and little fins on her back.

My lovely Mermaid and Waterhorse have been sat wrapped in a cabinet for a few years now and as much as I love them, I need to move them on to make way for more sculptures.
I tried the Waterhorse with a long flowing mane, but after some consideration, I decided on some seaweedy dreadlocks :D

If you'd like to take a look at the listing (and maybe bid!) you can find them here:

Website!

There seems to be some technical problems with the website at the moment. I've not been able to access my Mailbox for some time and now it seems that the whole site is down.

Please bear with me while I sort it out and make necessary changes. A new website could be the only answer as I've not been completely happy for some time, so appologies to anyone that's tried to contact me or have had problems accessing the site.

Maiden voyage!

An afternoon spent making curtains was well spent as the van looked so pretty filled with lovely colours.

Unfortunately I didn't get time to finish covering the cushions, but the throws looked good anyway. The blue cushions were from my old sofa, haha!

The children were excited to be off and I couldn't delay any longer! I had to trust the van to get us there and myself to handle it. Hells teeth, it was heavy going!

I did get the hang of it though and discovered that hills were best tackled in a sling-shot fashion. Fast down one hill so the momentum carried me almost to the top of the next one! It was a bit hairy driving it fast and the speedo wasn't terribly accurate, but I guessed I was doing around 60, but feeling like I was thundering along at 100!!!

Our first campsite was lovely. So peaceful with loooong woodland walks all around. The dog loved it but wasn't so keen on spending the night in the tiny tent with me. I thought the van was a bit crowded for us all on reflection.

My son did enjoy the peace and quiet :D

And the kitchen area very soon resembled home (messy!)!!!

It was a good first trip and another is now being planned :D

Coming along.

When we first collected the van, the inside looked like this,

and smelled of an overpowering air freshner that was really quite disgusting.

The soft furnishings were all disposed of and I made new lids for the storage trunks. The children stained them while I painted the bases which were a very dark and gloomy grey!

The interior is so much brighter now and the next job is to make new cushions for us to sleep on. The bases will also be decorated, probably in a celtic design.

Our first trip is planned for this weekend. I'm not sure how much will be finished in time, so I'd better get on with it :D
